I loved this book. It has a novel approach to sci fi; four short stories are each accompanied by scholarly articles that explore the teams captured by fiction.

I'm told that the real beauty of Marquez is revealed in the original Spanish. The English version was pretty incredible; what sprawling, intricate tome.
My strongest impression was of the passage of time. You begin the work with a set of characters and witness them living their lives and exiting the story in their own time. The story ends with their descendants. As a father of a young child with elderly parents, I think a lot these days about the passage of time and the poigance of impermanence. The book summoned up sadness and nostalgia. It was very moving.
