I went into this expecting another stuffy Christian author making excuses for all the bad shit that happens in the world; I am pleased to say my assumptions were unfounded!

Pastrix follows the journey of Nadia Bolz-Weber as she navigates the intricacies of ordinate life, never once does this book come across as pandering to an absent God! Instead, she describes God as being not above it all, but right in the thick of it, suffering right along with us every step of the way! I, for one, greatly enjoyed it, I'll have to look into her other books as well!

I loved a lot about this book, the imagery, the characters, the villains! The pacing was a tad fast, and I would've loved it to be longer, but other than that, it was fucking magnificent!

One of the few Christian books I've read that wasn't packed full of apologetics or just in terrible taste! The kingdom of God is built of the damned, disgraced, disposed, sinners and saints both alike and equal!

The Good: It's a nice view of God, far put from the fire and brimstone of many a fundamentalist's youth.

The Bad: It paints God in a bad light concerning free will and grave sin, including trying to rationalize the rape and murder of a child! The apologetics are in extremely poor taste, painting a not so nice picture of God.

General thoughts: Young's idea of The Trinity is an intriguing and refreshing concept, but the apologetics sour it to an almost unbearable degree.

All in all, I give it a 3 out of 5 in terms of rating. I like the concept of The Trinity being equal parts separate and together, sharing thoughts but having each their own personality. I can't stand the apologetics and the rationalizing shitty people doing shitty things.

This us an amazing book, I absolutely loved this, the end was bittersweet but still good.

I am in absolute love with the works of Brom, love the mythos, the environment, love it all.
