Middle East is very hard to understand. This book by Thomas Friedman gives very interesting perspectives about the things that were happening in Liban and Israel between 1982 and 1987 when the author was stationed in them as New York Times correspondent. It also lets you glimpse into the minds of the Middle Eastern peoples and their objectives.

Although I do not agree with everything that is written in this book, it is one of the best books about top management and how to run companies. It is full of insights or at least makes you stop and think about the hard things.

A good overview of the developments in the energy sector during the past few decades. Daniel Yergin is an outstanding expert to read on the complexities and developments in energy.

Sequels are rarely better than the originals and this is no exception. While the „Viking Raid“ is still an entertaining read about shipping industry, it does not outshine „The Shipping Man“.

A nice introduction into Pig, a dataflow scripting language for Hadoop. Since Pig is being actively developed, some information is already outdated, but it gives enough overview about what Pig is about.
