Review for the book 'Building a Second Brain' by 'Tiago Forte'

First part is meant for people who are completely disorganized in their lives and it basically tells you to take notes. (Wow!)

Second part is about the PARA method. Sounds good, I might give it a try.

Later sections seem like filler material

The final section about "strong tagging system" is just one page that tells you to visit his website /bonuschapter where you are supposed to subscribe to the email - newsletter (haven't I already paid with €€€? Why do you want my data?) and then wait for an email that contains what should just be inside the book already.

Overall I would not recommend this book to friends 🤷🏽‍♂️

update: The email is a joke! 😂

Productivity - how to organize and take notes

The author is a productivity guru/expert. This is his first book that essentially walks you through why it's important to keep electronic notes, as well as how to organize electronic notes to essentially become your second brain.

He recommends proceses to review and plan that should help an open reader to align and improve their day/week.

The concepts are rather simple and easy to grasp. I don't doubt that his premise of information overlode isn't incorrect. I read this as I wanted to organize my notes better, and it really helped me think and plot that out.

At the end of the day this is yet another self help book written with a lot of filler that could be a long article.

But I’m giving it four stars because although it is not original I think it is easier to read than other literature of the area.

And more importantly, it fills a void between GTD and more complete PKM methods like the Zettelkasten including a space for imperfection that both ZK and GTD don’t allow.

I have read worse books, starting with David Allen’s GTD.

Definitely some good stuff in here

There is some very useful advice here for how to better keep and organize bits of information, but there's also lots of filler.

Actually useful

Self help books are hit or miss, with a lot of misses and pompous practitioners. This has already made a difference and helped me quiet my scattered mind. I'm looking forward to growing with it and seeing what becomes possible.
